Citizenship - Introduction

Since September 2002, citizenship has been a statutory National Curriculum subject at key stages 3 and 4. It is also a non-statutory element of the primary curriculum, linked with the Personal Social Health Education (PSHE) programme.

Citizenship aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding to:-

- become informed citizens aware of their rights, responsibilities and duties;
- play an effective role in relation to their local, national and international communities.
