So far 2 Gateshead Schools have gained the Gold Award - Green Flag ECO School Award.

A number of schools have registered and are at Bronze and Silver level.

Gateshead Schools Environmental Challenge
In 2004-2005 10 schools registered to take part in the "Challenge" linked to Gateshead/Local Agenda 21 environmental issues.
Schools were invited to develop school or local community based projects tackling one of the following areas of study:- energy conservation.
- air quality and noise management
- bio diversity
- sustainable transport
- waste management
Successful schools will be informed in May with a presentation and activity for representatives from the schools at Norwood Wildlife garden.
