The Smoke Free School Awards are back!

The Health Act 2006 will introduce legislation to make all enclosed workplaces and public places smoke free from summer 2007.

This doesn't mean that it's time to stop all work on smoking!

The Smoke Free School Award enhances the legislation by incorporating the grounds of your school as well as the buildings. A smoke free site is one component of National Healthy School Status.

Schools are in an ideal position to influence the health of the community they serve. The school environment, smoking education programme offered and the messages given about tobacco have key roles to play in reducing smoking amongst young people, staff and visitors.

The Smoke Free School Awards are here to recognise and celebrate good practice in smoking prevention and education. For more information, download the flyers below.

That's right, 6th February 2006! If your school requires the Standard Smoke Free School Award or the Gold Smoke Free School Award then submissions must be by 6th February.

If you haven't received, or you have misplaced your application flyer then they can be downloaded below...

Standard SFSA

Gold SFSA

Remember, if you haven't already achieved the Standard SFSA then you must do so by your 3rd Healthy School Award application.

If you haven't already achieved the Gold SFSA then you must do by your 6th (or for those who gained their 6th HSA before September 2002 by 10th application).

If you're unsure if you have to get a SFSA this year then contact your Core-team Representative.
